When I launch a program, I get a blank screen.

This problem generally occurs when you do not have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed. Please visit go to the Login screen, and click the Test Your System Now link to check the version of Flash you have installed on your computer. If there is a red X in the Checklist column for the Flash row, you will need to update to an accepted version.
